Stephen UnderdownStephen graduated from Trent University with an honours degree in accounting and finance.
He trained as an accountant with a medium sized firm in the west end of London where his work was predominately audit based including public limited companies. Following the birth of his first child, Stephen moved to a local practice in Tonbridge, Kent where he lived. This firm had a wide range of clients including public limited companies, manufacturing companies, farms and sole traders. Stephen worked on a broad cross-section of these clients. In 1989 Stephen moved to Eastbourne to work for a medium sized local practice and remains in general practice.
Stephen has spent approximately 25 years working in professional practice dealing with the affairs of a wide range of clients. Coming from a family of builders, Stephen is particularly interested in the construction industry. As a pro-active practitioner, he is heavily involved in the choice of business structure and tax planning for all of his clients.
Stephen has also worked as an accountant for a building company which specialised in the construction and refurbishment of petrol filing stations. He has also worked as an accountant in a large American multi national which specialised in weight and measurement products and had significant imports and exports.
Stephen is a keen sportsmen. He was a member of the channel relay team which successfully crossed the English Channel in 1968 ( all aged 12 years old ) and has represented Eastbourne at 800 and 1500 metres on the track.
