The global financial markets had finally been showing signs of recovery to pre Covid levels. This had been due to confidence returning owing to the various stimulus packages being announced worldwide.

Unfortunately on Friday 2 October US President Donald Trump tested positive for Covid-19 and with an upcoming election this sent the US markets plunging on opening. They did however recover slightly during the day. The impact in the EU has so far been less severe.
